Airwaves Ducati Back To Brands Hatch

May 08, 2008

After Shane Byrne’s winning double at Oulton Park Airwaves Ducati head back to Brands Hatch this weekend for the re-scheduled round 1 event which was cancelled due to heavy snowfall on April 6th.

Shane Byrne and Leon Camier, who are currently first and second in the championship, will start the races from the positions in which they qualified in early April. Shane Byrne will therefore start the 20 lap race from pole position with Leon Camier in 6th. Shane set the fastest times throughout practice and qualifying at the 2.3 mile GP circuit, with Leon Camier performing well to overcome his injury and claim a spot on the second row.

Having secured his first two podium finishes of the 2008 season at Oulton Park Leon Camier is confident about his performance at his home circuit; “Airwaves Ducati had a great weekend at Oulton Park and it has given me a lot of confidence going into this weekend. I am second in the championship and I am pleased that I head to Brands Hatch in that position; it is my home circuit and I have done well there in the past, including getting on the podium in my first ever BSB race there last year. When we had qualifying back in early April I was not 100% fit but I am much better now and I am confident I will be up there fighting for podium spots this weekend. “

Championship leader Shane is looking to build on his bank holiday performance saying; “I am still buzzing from my double win at Oulton Park and I can’t wait to get to Brands Hatch this weekend. It is going to be a different kind of event as there is no qualifying and only two practice sessions but I will approach it as I would any other race weekend. I was quickest in all the sessions there last month and the Airwaves Ducati 1098R is feeling so good now so I am aiming to leave Brands Hatch with more championship points. “

There will be two 30 minute practice sessions on this Saturday, May 10th, followed by two races on Sunday 11th May on the GP circuit at Brands Hatch.
