The USAC California Ford Focus Dirt Midget Car Series continues a four-weekend race streak Saturday when competitors head to Chowchilla (Calif. ) Speedway, the third track to host a series race in as many weekends.

Nick Carlson still leads the point standings following his season opening victory at Ventura (Calif. ) Raceway, but the lead was slimmed ever so slightly by Nic Faas, who scored his second series victory Saturday at Bakersfield (Calif. ) Speedway.

Faas, in the No. 17 Faas-owned machine, drove past Carlson on Lap 18 of the 20-lapper to capture the race. Carlson, who led the opening lap only to lose it and return to the lead from Laps 11-17, finished second, ahead of Walt Johnson, defending series champion Bobby Michnowicz and Jet Davidson. Dennis Howell, who finished eighth in the feature, led Laps 2-10. Ricky Kirkbride was the evening’s only flip as he turned over during the feature.
