The Bahrain Grand Prix ended in disappointment for the Honda Racing F1 Team, with only Rubens Barrichello making it to the checkered flag in 13th position. Jenson Button crashed out of the race on the opening lap.
Rubens and Jenson started the race in 15th and 16th positions, and they both got away well from the grid. But Jenson s race ended when he became involved in a four- car accident at Turn 4, which resulted in him hitting the back of David Coulthard. The anti-stall on his RA107 then malfunctioned and he was forced to retire from the race when his engine died.
Rubens drove a tenacious race, finishing one-lap down on race winner Felipe Massa. He optimized his two-stop strategy and spent much of the 56-lap race dicing with Ralf Schumacher. He also provided the team with vital data about the RA107, which the engineers will use to improve the performance of the car prior to the next race.
