Gumpert Apollo Supercar- With 100kW Electric Motor And V8 Biturbo Engine

The Apollo hybrid is made by the German firm Gumpert, which was founded by Roland Gumpert, the former head of Audi Sport.

The high-tech Apollo uses a battery supplied by Lithium Technology Corporation (LTC) of Pennsylvania. The LTC battery’s advanced management system transmits battery performance data via satellite for monitoring.

“Motorsports cannot ignore the necessity to save energy,” said Heinz-Harald Frentzen, the former Formula 1 champion who will be a co-driver of the Apollo. “I see a chance that our sport will go back to the forefront of technical development, making cars outside of the racetrack much more energy efficient.”
