Jay Bridger Targets British F3 Victory At Home Circuit

Young, talented drivers from across the world will be competing in the British F3 International Championship at Brands Hatch next weekend (12/13 July), and among the frontrunners will be Jay Bridger from Horsmonden.

The 20 year old driver currently lies second in the British F3 national class, having taken two victories already this season.  With just nine points separating Bridger from class leader Andrew Meyrick, a good performance in front of his home crowd could prove crucial to his title campaign.

Jay Bridger said: “I’ll be aiming for two class wins next weekend to take as many points out of Andy Meyrick’s lead as possible.  I love racing at Brands Hatch, it’s my favourite circuit and I’ve had some good success racing there in Formula Ford.  I’m hoping for lots of support as it’s my local track -having people behind me definitely spurs me on to aim for a good result.”

British F3 is well known for producing future Formula 1 stars - Nigel Mansell, Jenson Button and Ayrton Senna began their careers in the series.  2008 has already yielded six different race winners from ten rounds and the International class lead is now separated by a single point.

Some of the world’s finest supercars will also be coming to Kent next weekend as the Avon Tyres British GT Championship will be racing on the same bill as British F3 at Brands Hatch.  Famous marques including Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin will be competing in two one-hour endurance races, with mandatory pit stops and driver swaps in each.
