Kevin York Returns To Endurance Sports Car Competition

Kevin York, of YORK Motorsport announced his return to competition in joining a team taking part in the 31st annual running of the Eight Hours of the Cascades at Portland International Raceway on 17 March, 2007.
Kevin has been invited to drive with the team West Coast Touring Cars (WCTC). The team’s regular drivers are 2005 SCCA Northwest Region ITA class champion, Rob Dunn and car owner, Paul Forgey. This partnership rekindles a relationship with a team that Kevin has enjoyed past successes with.
As 2004 P3 class-winner of the Eight Hours, Kevin is very enthused to be returning after missing the event last season.
“I really enjoy the true teamwork atmosphere that sports car endurance racing offers. “ Kevin remarked at the weekend. “Most especially, it will be fun to run with Rob and Paul in an event that I have come to enjoy very much. Additionally, it will give me an opportunity to have a bit of a warm-up prior to my forthcoming Grand Am events. “
The Eight Hours of the Cascades is one of the United States’ oldest, continuously running sports car endurance races. It is the only one to continue use of the traditional “LeMans” start whereby drivers run across the track at the start, buckle-up safely into the cars, and speed off to race.
This type of sports car race emphasizes endurance, reliability, and strategy over pure speed. Races involve complex pit strategy and regular driver changes - sports car racing is seen more as a team sport than an individual sport.
