Kraig Kinser To Again Hit The Open Road NHRA

Indianapolis – For Kraig Kinser and the rest of the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series competitors, this weekend’s doubleheader is a welcome opportunity to again hit the open road. Holding their own as the last truly nomadic Sprint car racing series, the Outlaws will travel to Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., and the legendary Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway this weekend for their first long haul since heading out west in February.

For Kinser, Friday’s event at Huset’s will see him return to familiar territory. In his last appearance at the facility on June 28, 2005, Kinser scored a solid second-place finish with the WoO Sprint Series. His teammate, Donny Schatz, has also been victorious recently at the track, as he won the series’ last event there on July 3, 2007.

Saturday’s WoO Sprint Series event at Knoxville Raceway will kick off the annual pilgrimage to the crown jewel of winged Sprint car racing, the Knoxville Nationals. Kinser is no stranger to the famed half-mile oval, having added his name to the history books as a Knoxville Nationals champion on Aug. 14, 2005. His victory marked the first time in event history that a father-son duo had taken their place as event champions. His father, Steve Kinser, has won the event 12 times in his career.

The No. 20 Tony Stewart Racing/Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/Maxim team has a long-standing reputation of success at Knoxville including back-to-back Knoxville Nationals victories in 2003 and 2004.

Kinser enters this weekend’s racing action ranked 14th in the WoO Sprint Series Championship standings. He has made six series starts thus far in 2008, having earned one top-10 finish.
