Lorenzo Savadori Sets Second Position & Lead At Monza

The second round of the 2008 Road Racing Italian Championship was held in Monza.

Lorenzo Savadori conquered second position that allows him to remain at the head of the championship with an advantage of 9 points on the second classified.

After a good start, Lorenzo immediately went on the front and at that time he began a fight with other three riders that only ended under the chequered flag. Continuous changes of position offered a great show on the very fast track of Monza, with a great Savadori that managed to pass the finish line in the first position in 9 of the 11 laps. Unfortunately in the last lap Lorenzo was passed by Moretti in the corner before the main straight and therefore he had to satisfy himself with the second position, able to resist to the attack of Ravaioli and Ferro, arrived only a few hundredths of a second behind him. After the win at Mugello, Lorenzo went on the podium once again and is therefore confirming himself the leader of the championship.

Lorenzo Savadori: “It’s too bad I didn’t win the race.. Unfortunately I lost the final sprint because I had a contact with Moretti in the last corner. Then he braked very hard and he overtook me, so in the Parabolic I opened the throttle a bit sooner to try to win the final sprint but I nearly crashed and that’s why he arrived with an advantage of 5 tenths of a second on me. I’ll take my revenge at Vallelunga, in three weeks!”.
