Marcos Ambrose Hoping For A Good Run In NNS At Talladega
Apr 22, 2008
Marcos Ambrose is looking to carry the momentum of his best NASCAR finish into the Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama this weekend.
Ambrose was second in the Corona Mexico 200 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez road course event last weekend but now turns to an entirely different discipline – restrictor plate superspeedway racing.
Talladega represents the biggest oval in NASCAR and one that poses an intimidating challenge for drivers with it’s flat out racing in the spectacular ‘draft’.
Ambrose has two top 20 finishes on superspeedways, one at Daytona in last year’s NASCAR Nationwide Series and the other at Talladega in the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
The Australian will be out to post a strong finish in Talladega this weekend, conscious of continuing the momentum created by the Mexico result as Ambrose seeks to push the #59 Kingsford Hickory Ford Fusion into the top 10 in the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series standings.

“We’re taking our Daytona car to Talladega without too many changes and we’re really hoping to have a good, solid run,” said Ambrose.
“The momentum we have after Mexico is a real boost to our guys so we want to keep it going and try to continue to improve and collect good points.”
“We only run a few restrictor plate races a year so it’s not really an area where you concentrate a massive amount of your development.”
“But it’s always a really exciting race at Talladega and it’s a wild experience to run a car there.”
“Superspeedway racing is really fast and so close. It’s definitely a great place to race and it gets your attention.”
“We will ride out the first part of the race and settle into the draft in the pack. Then once everyone has sorted themselves out we’ll aim to move forwards and see what we’ve got.”
