The Richard Childress Racing No. 31 Chevrolet driven by Jeff Burton showed up at Michigan International Speedway with its AT&T sponsorship logos intact for now. But they might not be there on Sunday, depending on how ongoing litigation between AT&T and NASCAR is resolved. An appeals court on Wednesday overturned an injunction against NASCAR to allow AT&T to rebrand itself from Cingular.

Bright and early at 9 a.m. ET, the two previously banished crew chiefs talked about all the time they missed, the weird feeling of not being at the track and how glad they were to be back and ready to take the cars of Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson into the Chase and all the way to the Nextel Cup championship.

They even made half-hearted apologies, albeit heavy on the half-heartedness but rather light on the apology itself.

Now it’s time to move on, for another week means another race, and another race means it’s time for another round of eliminations. This week we return to Michigan, home of the slumping Lions, Tigers and Chevrolets. That’s right, Chevrolet doesn’t have a win in the last 12 races at Michigan International Speedway, by far the longest active winless streak by the manufacturer at any track. The next longest is three straight at California and at Homestead-Miami. That’ll remove the 19 Chevrolet teams and leave us with 28 Dodges, Fords and Toyotas. Matthew Willis, ESPN.com

Kurt Busch (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge) is in 12th place in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup point standings, coming into Sunday’s 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Covering every angle and including a number of statistics, NASCAR’s Driver Rating has proven incredibly consistent as a means of predicting solid finishes at a given track.

For instance, Tony Stewart had the top pre-race Driver Rating at Watkins Glen going into last Sunday’s race (140.1). He won that race, making it three victories in the last four races
