Troy Third Fastest On Day1 Qualifying For World Superbike Championship At Misano troycorser.com

On a blisteringly hot day at Misano, Troy was happy enough to end the final qualifying with the third fastest time, behind fellow countryman Troy Bayliss (Ducati) and Jakub Smrz (Ducati).

In the afternoon, the air temperature was 34 C and the track 53 C, so it was a hot and exhausting day’s work for the twenty-seven riders today, with the top twelve all within a second of each other.

Troy - 3rd, 1.37.224 : Today wasn’t so bad. We began with the same set-up we used in the last round in Germany and then tried a few adjustments - small things really - and overall it was not too bad. We were able to run consistent lap times OK and things worked pretty well. In the afternoon the track grip went down - probably because of the heat - and we had to use a hard tyre if we wanted to do a lot of laps. We tried a softer tyre, but it didn’t work, so I guess we’ll use a hard tyre and just have to put up with slower lap times. The track felt even more bumpy than last year, but it’s the same for all of us and we just have to get on with it.
