The DIRT MotorSports NorthEast organization in Weedsport is returning the “concept” modified race cars to race tracks which DIRT founder, Glenn Donnelly, introduced several years ago to give enthusiasts a taste of race driving on a dirt speedway.
Three cars, built by Billy Colton of Troyer Race Cars, which were modified chassis powered by 358 cubic-inch Chevrolet small-block racing engines, thrilled corporate executives and private individuals when they first ran at Cayuga County Fair Speedway’s high-banked clay oval.
Now the DIRT office in Weedsport has brought the concept modifieds back for both men and women to experience the feel of slipping into a single-seat cockpit, the snap acceleration of a racing V-8 and the overall thrill of handling a genuine race car, as this writer did.
