Sophomore-bound ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Patrick Sheltra was one of over 30 drivers to participate in Friday’s open-test session at the legendary Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the 2008 ARCA season-opener on February 9, 2008. Sheltra led by crew chief John Hayden and team manger Keith Strunk brought two Chevrolet Monte Carlos to help prepare him for the “Super Bowl” of ARCA.

Andy Belmont Racing (ABR) officials announced today the signing of USAR Hooter’s Pro Cup star Tom Hessert to pilot Belmont’s familiar No. 1 Ford Fusion in the full 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) schedule beginning with the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway in February. In addition, Hessert will gun for Rookie-of-the-Year honors.

Mooresville, North Carolina based Andy Belmont Racing (ABR) announced today that ARCA newcomer Jacob Francis will pilot the team’s second entry in the first six 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series events beginning at Daytona International Speedway with a full schedule on the table further pending sponsorship. Francis hopes to run for the coveted ARCA REMAX Series Rookie-of-the-Year honors as well.

The season opener of Stock Car Saturday Night for 2008 will be on Saturday, April 12, with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and ARDC Midgets. All point championships for every class start on April 12. At the end of the season, SSP will crown eleven-(11) champions in their respective classes and series.

Ten-year-old Kyle Benjamin had a host ofproblems to overcome in Saturday’s season-opening Winter Heat seriesrace at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Jimmy Heavlow started the Winter Heat season at Lowe’s Motor Speedway with a strong second place finish in the Legends Young Lions category.
“We guessed at a setup for qualifying – they told us wed be on the track about 4:30, ” but qualifying got delayed, meaning that the track changed dramatically from conditions they had set the car for. With the changed conditions, the Pensacola teen qualified his No. 11 Boyett’s/Bill’s RV Service Pro Late Model in 26th place.
Sixteen-year-old Matthew Stover opened his Winter Heat racing season at Lowe’s Motor Speedway with a strong fourth- place finish in the Pro Legends Car class Saturday.
Winning the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 is all about rolling with the punches. After the time trials earlier in the day, Ryan Crane was behind the eight ball with a slim chance of even racing in the big show. But the Panama City, Florida driver won his last chance race and stormed to the front in the feature to put his name in the record books as a Snowflake 100 winner. He also did it in dramatic fashion, taking the lead with only four laps to go.
