Rod Fuller Raced To No. 7 Spot Friday At O’Reilly Raceway Park NHRA

Hot Rod Fuller raced his David Powers-owned MacAllister CAT dragster to the provisional No. 7 qualifying position Friday evening at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.

The seven-time Top Fuel winner opened qualifying at NHRA drag racing’s most prestigious race by clocking a lap of 3.913 seconds at 303.43 mph. That placed the Las Vegas racer in the No. 7 qualifying position. There are 20 Top Fuel dragsters attempting to make the 16-car field this weekend. Fuller qualified sixth at the U.S. Nationals last year.

“That was a good conservative run and start to the weekend,” Fuller said. “With five qualifying runs it’s good to get a full run under our belts on our first run. It was on the conservative end, but we wanted to make it down the track. We have a game plan for the race and want to stick to it.”

Professional nitro qualifying resumes Saturday afternoon at O’Reilly Raceway Park with sessions schedule for 1:15 and 6:30 p.m. (ET). Final eliminations are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 1.
