Geisler Second In Points, Looks To Win Jim Shank Memorial In Honor Of His Friend MACS Racing

Cranberry Township, PA—The Geisler Racing team and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Member Lynn Geisler continue to wind down their season with strong finishes at both Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA and Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway (PPMS) in Imperial, PA. Geisler has put a string of five consecutive top-five finishes together between the two facilities and finished Lernerville’s 2008 Friedman’s Freshmarkets UMP DirtCar Super Late Models Budweiser Points in second behind Saxonburg, PA’s Alex Ferree.

Lynn started his string of top-five finishes on Friday, August 15th at Lernerville Speedway with a fifth and followed that up with a fourth and another fifth at PPMS during their twin features on August 16th. The next week saw Geisler finish a strong third at Lernerville behind race winner Keith Barbara and 2008 Lernerville Champion Alex Ferree. Lynn then had another solid run at PPMS finishing fourth on August 23rd in his #1 Cochran Automotive / Marshall Stamping / Groff Tractor & Equipment Inc. / Tri-State Hose & Supply / Bolea Oil / Hoosier Race Tire / Rocket Chassis GTO.

This upcoming week will showcase the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series sanctioned, $7,000 to win Cleveland Brothers Caterpillar ‘Jim Shank Memorial’ presented by Potoka Trucking & Repair on Friday, August 29th at Lernerville Speedway. The event is being held in honor of longtime Geisler Racing fan and friend Jim Shank. “Jim wasn’t only a fan of mine, he was a fan of racing,” said Geisler. “That’s how I remember Jim, as a race fan. He truly loved the sport and that’s what is going to make this race special. Jim had an airbrushed mural of my car and name on the rear tire cover of his conversion van that he used to travel to the races in. Jim’s van became a popular attraction at the different facilities he visited. There were always fans stopping by to look at the mural which sparked many conversations, often times with total strangers. To win this race would be very special, it would really be the icing on the cake and a great tribute to my friend,” concluded Geisler.

In other Geisler Racing news, Lynn son Travis was recently named Crew Chief for the Penske Racing #77 Mobil 1 Dodge driven by Sam Hornish Jr. in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Travis, a mechanical engineering graduate from Vanderbilt had been the race engineer for the No. 12 Alltel Dodge driven by Ryan Newman, was an integral part of that team’s historic 2008 Daytona 500 victory.

Geisler will be in action this Friday, August 29th at Lernerville Speedway for the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series sanctioned, $7,000 to win Cleveland Brothers Caterpillar ‘Jim Shank Memorial’ presented by Potoka Trucking & Repair and Saturday, August 30 at PPMS for their regular show.
