Off Road Racing: Ben Wandahsega Wins The First Ever 2007 Lucas Oil World Series Of Off Road Racing Championship

Toayoeditor

Ben Wandahsega, piloting his Forest County Potawatomi / Toyo Tires Chevy Silverado, won the first-ever 2007 Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing championship in the Super Stock Truck class this past weekend. Competing at the Nissan “Show Down at the Show-Me State” event, which is the WSORR series finals held in Wheatland, Missouri; Wandahsega secured his championship while driving on Toyo® Open Country M/T® tires.

Leading fellow Team Toyo™ Off-Road driver, Dave Waldvogel by a single point going into this weekend, Wandahsega relied on consistency to take the championship. During Round 12 on Saturday, Wandahsega moved closer to the championship by scoring a third place finish. On Sunday, Wandahsega fought to stay ahead of a charging Waldvogel, the pair finishing second and third. For his efforts, Dave Waldvogel captured second place in the 2007 Super Stock Truck class championship. Both drivers have previously won championships for Toyo. In 2005, Wandahsega won the Sportsman 2 championship of the CORR Lucas Oil Racing Series while Waldvogel CORR won the Stock Truck championship the same year.

Also winning this past weekend on Toyo tires, were two members of the Flying Dutchman Off-Road Race Team, Dan Vanden Heuvel in the Pro 2WD class and Mike Vanden Heuvel in the 1600 Light Buggy class. Dan Vanden Heuvel, substituting for an injured Ross Hoek, piloted Hoek’s Herculiner / Toyo Tires Ford F-150 pickup equipped with 35x12.50x17 Open Country M/T tires to the Pro 2WD class win on Saturday. He then backed up that performance with a strong second place on Sunday. Team Toyo™ Off-Road regular Kevin Probst, driver of the Simply WOW / Toyo Tires Chevy truck; proved his front running consistency by finishing third in the 2007 WSORR Pro 2WD class championship.

Mike Vanden Heuvel nearly won Saturday’s 1600 Light Buggy race until a last lap brush with the wall dropped him to second place. On Sunday, Vanden Huevel would not be denied a victory as he easily topped a competitive field of cars. For his efforts, Vanden Heuvel finished third overall in the 2007 1600 Light Buggy championship.

“We congratulate Ben Wandahsega on winning this first-ever WSORR Super Stock Truck class championship for Toyo”, said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire (U. S.A. ) Corporation. “We are proud of all our drivers who put Toyo on the podium during the 2007 WSORR season and look forward to more exciting finishes next year. ”
