Bikes Galore At The Scottish Motor Sport Show

With the inaugural Scottish Motor Sport Show just over one week away the excitement is brewing in not only the four-wheel, but two-wheel category as well. It has been confirmed that Robbie Allan will be present with his Dakar-Rally Bike and a Dakar support truck, big news that all the biking world have been talking about.

“I am still competing in two wheel motorsport, and I was touched to see how much interest my recent exploits in the Dakar attracted. My bike and support truck will be at the show so people can see exactly what I had at my disposal when I tackled some of the most difficult conditions I’ve seen in over 50 years of competition. ” said Allan

The addition of Robbie Allan and his Dakar bike is a huge boost to the already star studded line up to hit the show in Lanark on the 24 – 25 of February. With the support truck on hand also, people attending the show will be able to get a first hand view of what it takes to compete in one of the toughest motorsporting events in the world. The Dakar Rally has been running since 1978 and for many Scots and spectators alike this will be a once in a life-time viewing opportunity.

“I hope the Scottish Motor Sport Show will become a permanent fixture on the calendar. We’ve tried to give people something they wouldn’t normally see and I look forward to welcoming fans past, present and future to see exactly what we have to offer. ” he added.

Another spectacle to the show will be purpose-built trials sections which will be ridden over by some of Scotland’s top riders, including Scottish Ultimate Champion Gary MacDonald. Along with the champ will be a number of mixed grade riders including Scotland A, B and C youth champions as well as A and B grade riders and seven school boys all looking to show of their skills in front of the massive Lanark audience.

While the layout has not yet been finalised, the current plan is to have 16 live sections for fans of trial bike riding to experience the true nature of the sport. The sections will replicate a variety of different terrains using various obstacles for riders to jump and navigate through. These include concrete pipes, tractor tyres, huge tree trunks, cement mixer barrels, croc teeth, pallets, 30ft high see-saws and to top it all off a four-wheel drive Landcruiser.

The Fast and Modified LIVE Arena will feature Steve Colley’s fantastic trials riding, Russ Swift’s world famous car display team, not to mention the latest Drifting sensation as well as hot motorcycle stunt rider, Jonathan Pearson who will jump a moving Eddie Stobart lorry.
