Contesting the weekend temporarily out of Team VIP Petfood colours, Baird will join Morris and Garry Holt behind the wheel of a BMW 335i.
Interestingly, the event will serve as somewhat of a Bathurst reunion for Baird and Morris – with 2007 marking 10 years since the duo briefly experienced glory as kings of the mountain in, funnily enough, a BMW.
The 1997 running of the Primus 1000 Classic saw Baird and Morris win the 2-Litre Bathurst event, only to be disqualified not long after holding up the winning trophy.
“This weekend will be a bit of a reunion I guess, with Morris and I back behind the wheel of another BMW with Garry Holt for the 12 hour enduro event, ” said Baird.
“Winning the Bathurst event in 1997 was fantastic, but unfortunately we were disqualified soon after due to my driving longer than I was supposed to.
“Even with the history, I am looking forward to getting out there – the track is one of those you always love the opportunity to compete on and enduros are great events. ”
The weekend will also see Baird s Team VIP Petfoods teammate and defending Aussie Racing Car champion Paul Kemal tackle the legendary Mount Panorama circuit – like Baird, Kemal is currently leading his series.
