“I’m looking forward to the race in New Zealand. I’ve never been over there, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it from Scott Dixon and am looking forward to getting there. I know very little about the circuit, but I’m sure we’ll get up to speed pretty quick. It’s just great to be able to race this time of year. I love to drive and a lot of people aren’t getting that chance right now.”
Marco Andretti Facts
· This will be Andretti’s third start in the A1 Team USA entry in A1GP.
· Andretti finished third in the 2008 Feature Race in Sepang, Malaysia.
· Andretti’s A1GP debut came in November 2008 in China where he finished 15th in the Sprint Race and eighth in the Feature Race.
· Andretti finished seventh in the 2008 IndyCar Series championship.
· He piloted the AGR ALMS LMP2 entry in three races during the 2008 season.
· He finished second in the 2006 Indianapolis 500 and has recorded second-place and thirdplace finishes in his three career Indianapolis 500 starts.
· He joined both his father and grandfather in earning the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year honor.
· In 2006, Andretti became the youngest driver (19 years, five months, 14 days) at the time to win a major open-wheel race when he took the checkered flag at Infineon Raceway.
A1 Team USA at Taupo:
· In the 2006-07 season, Team USA recorded of 10th place finish in the Feature Race at Taupo.
· A1 Team USA finished seventh in the Sprint Race during the Taupo event in the 2007-08 season.
