Kevin Buckler And The Racer’s Group (trg) Has His Driver Andy Lally And The No. 00 Trg/toyota Tundra Ready For The Casino Arizona 150 To Be Run At Phoenix International Raceway On Saturday, November 9. Phoenix Will Mark The Penultimate Round Of The Nascar Craftsman Truck Series (cts).
Lally Is Coming Off Of His Baptism To The Cts At Texas Motor Speedway. The Dacula, Georgia Based Driver Qualified 25th And Finished 22nd In His First Ever Truck Race. Lally Was Able To Take The Checker And Gain Valuable Miles For The Remainder Of The Season And The 2008 Season Campaign.
“i Learned A Lot Of Little Things, ” Lally Said. “it Was Tough Getting Into The Truck For The First Time The Day Before My First Race. It Was An Incredible Experience. I Tried To Soak It All Up So We Can Apply Everything At Phoenix To Improve Our Qualifying Position As Well As Our Finishes.
The Learning Curve For Me Is So Steep. I Am Trying To Take Small Steps. I Want To Finish The Season With As Much Momentum As Possible Going Into ’08. ”
Lally Is Doing His Homework On The Phoenix International Raceway Circuit. Phoenix Will Be A Slower Track Than The Super Speedway Of Texas, But Also Very Challenging.
“i Have Been To Phoenix Before. It Will Be Quite A Bit Different From Texas. I Think I Will Be Able To Get Acclimated To The Phoenix Layout A Little Easier. Turns One And Two Are Tighter, The Entry Is Tighter, But There Is Steep Banking. Three And Four Are A Little Flatter.
We Have A Mix Of Waltrip Guys And Some New People Working On The Truck. For Our First Race Together, The Crew And I Hit It Off Pretty Good. I Am Pleased With The Way That We Communicated. The Guys Work Hard And Are Really Helpful. They Know I Need To Learn And They Are Doing A Good Job To Give Me A Solid Truck Right Away. I Did About 60 Laps Of Practice In Texas. That Is 60, 30-second Laps, Not A Lot Of Time To Get Used To Things. I Was Happy With Everyone On The Team. I Think We Handled It About As Good As Can Be Expected. ”
For Trg Team Owner Kevin Buckler The Weekend Team’s First Race Was Rewarding.
“it Was A Pride Filled Moment For Me At Texas When Andy Took The Green Flag, ” Buckler Said. “when My Wife Debra And I Started Racing Some 15-years Ago Being Involved In Nascar Was Furthest Thing From Our Minds. It Was Whirl-wind Weekend, Getting The Team Together, Andy’s First Race, Our First Time In Paddock As A New Team – But Everything Went Really Well. We Had The Simple Goal Of Doing As Many Laps As Possible And Finishing, We Accomplished Those Goals. Now We Need To Focus A Little More On Performance And Get Andy As Many Miles As We Can As We Look Toward The Full Season In 2008.
Although It Was Rewarding We Have Not Stopped Working. We Are Close On Having Our Truck Sponsored And We Have Some Things To Work Out With Shop Space And Crew Members. We Are Working As Hard, If Not Harder In Between The Races As We Are At The Track. ”
