De Ferran Drivers Ready For First Run At Mosport

De Ferran Motorsports heads north of the border for the first time this weekend when the American Le Mans Series visits the historic Mosport International Raceway near Toronto in Canada.

The former home of the Canadian Grand Prix, Mosport packs 10 high-speed turns into its 2.45 mile length. Despite being shorter than Road America or Road Atlanta, the Canadian circuit’s average speed records are actually remarkably similar to the two longer circuits.

Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud will test the Panasonic-sponsored Acura ARX-01b at Mosport on Monday and Tuesday in preparation for this weekend’s event. Practice begins on Friday (Aug 22) at Mosport, followed by qualifying on Saturday and the two hour, 45 minute eighth round of the ALMS on Sunday starting at 3.05pm.

GIL DE FERRAN
“This weekend will be a bit like Lime Rock for Simon, myself and lot of the guys on the team, this will be the first time we have been here.
“However, this time around we will be able to test prior to the weekend so by the time the race meeting kicks off on Friday, we should be somewhat familiar with the track.
“I’ve heard Mosport is very challenging and full of high speed corners.  They say it is one of the most daunting circuits in North America.
“The Acura ARX-01b is brilliant through high speed turns so I think it is going to awesome around there, I am really looking forward to it.”

SIMON PAGENAUD
“This will be another new track for me, but from what I have heard, it’s a track I am really looking forward to.
“The high speed corners suit the Acura very well and this weekend it is also my turn to qualify so that is always something to look forward to.
“It has been really interesting to visit new tracks like Salt Lake City and Lime Rock this year in the American Le Mans Series and I still have a few more to come.
“The chance to test this week will really help our preparation for the weekend and it will be good to get back into the high downforce configuration.
“That really suited our car well at other tracks and it should be the same here.”
