Craftsman Truck Series points leader Mike Skinner knows what’s important Friday night in the Power Stroke Diesel 200 at O’Reilly Raceway Park.
And it’s not winning on the tricky .686-mile short track that sits across town from famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Though that would be great.
“At the end of the day, ORP is exactly what it is,” Skinner said. “It’s just another racetrack that we have to survive. It’s good to have had a victory this past week, to go there and say, ‘We don’t need to win this race. We need to finish in the top 10.’ ” Tony Bolick, Sporting News

If you start in the rear of the field of Friday’s Power Stroke Diesel 200 at O’Reilly Raceway Park (7:30 p.m. ET, SPEED), visions of a Victory Lane visit should disappear before the green flag drops.
O’Reilly is a .686-mile short track in Indianapolis and is one of the hardest tracks on the Truck Series circuit to pass on. In 12 races at the track, the winner has started from the top five in each of them with only two races won from a starting position outside the top three. Bill Kimm, NASCAR.COM

The Power Stroke Diesel 200 kicks off NASCAR’s big weekend in the Hoosier State. The Busch Series teams will race at ORP on Saturday night and the Nextel Cup’s lucrative Allstate 400 at The Brickyard looms Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Normally at the wheel of a Toyota Tundra, Bodine and Germain debuted the No. 03 Germain Toyota Automotive Camry in last Saturday’s Gateway 250 at the Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis. An off week in the truck series gave the team a chance to test the waters at the next level. Tom Rife, NaplesNews.com

NASCAR Busch East driver Pierre Bourque will attempt to take another step in his racing career this weekend when he enters his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be attempting my NASCAR Craftsman debut this weekend at Indianapolis,” Bourque said. “I’m a huge fan of the series and I am really looking forward to the experience. Buddy Shacklette, AllHeadlineNews.com

Todd Bodine, the defending Truck Series champ, will try to better last year’s performance at the Indianapolis short-track where he drove the No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra to a seventh-place finish – his best-ever Truck Series finish at O’Reilly Raceway Park. Bodine says track position, patience and handling will be the key pieces to the 200-lap puzzle.
“O’Reilly Raceway Park is no different than any other short-track in that you have to keep the fenders on it,” said Bodine. “Track position is key. You have to have a good handling Tundra, and you can’t lose your patience. TruckSeries.com Report
