Skinner and his No. 5 race truck beat that of defending series champion Todd Bodine to finish line by 0.711 of a second. Skinner, who entered the race tied with three-time series champion Jack Sprague for the lead in the series standings, grabbed sole possession of top spot in the points chase with a third top-five performance through three events.
Skinner will hold a 69-point lead over Bodine entering the series next event in Martinsville, Va., March 31. He took his season-high finish and his second top-five finish in Atlanta. Sprague finished a season-low 23rd in Atlanta after starting second. David Starr is the defending Martinsville race winner and Bobby Hamilton, Jr., started from the pole position last season.
