The season opening Chevy Silverado will kick off the fourth season that Tim Sauter and sponsor Lester Buildings will be racing together in one of NASCAR’s top three divisions. In 2007 the Wisconsin driver is teamed with Green Light Racing in the Craftsman Truck Series. Sauter feels this year has the prospect to be his most successful NASCAR season yet as this will be the first time that Sauter has been part of a two-truck team, “It’s really great to be able to share information, compare notes and I really like Chad. He’s got a level head and he’s mature for his age.”

Green Light Co-owner Bobby Dotter will be on top of the pit-box for Sauter’s debut with his team, “There are a couple of trucks that were really good at the test last month, the 6 looks like it is the class of the field and the Toyotas are going to be tough,” Dotter explained. “Our trucks run good in the draft. We’re going to be just fine.” Dotter’s partner Gene Christensen is ecstatic about the upcoming season; “We’re going to have a great year for our sponsors Lester Buildings and the GPS Store both on and off the track. It’s going to be the best season ever for Green Light Racing, I can’t wait to get to Daytona.”

Engine builder Carl Wegner has been working diligently to equip both of Green Light’s teams with the best Chevy horsepower possible for the season opener at the world center of speed. “I’ve always been impressed with Carl’s speedway motors,” Sauter said. “These trucks have a lot more horsepower than I’m used to with the tapered intake spacer rather than the restrictor plate that the cars run. It doesn’t take long to get up to speed in the truck!”

Sauter is pleased with the effort in the Green Light shop just outside of Mooresville, NC. “I really have to thank the guys in the shop and how hard they have been working to get the trucks ready for the first couple races. It always seems like you get a late start on these deals, but the team has been working seven days a week and the effort shows, the trucks are really coming together good.”

“The truck runs well in the draft, but the Chevy’s don’t seem to have quite the speed in qualifying trim as some of the others, but when we ran together with those same trucks, we could draft and pull right up to them,” explained Sauter. When asked about differences in the truck compared to the Busch cars he is more familiar with he replied, “The amount of drag is unbelievable. When I did my first plug check at the test, I shut the truck off on the backstretch and I had to re-fire it because it stopped before I got to pit road.”

• This will be the Tim’s fourth CTS Series start, and 117th NASCAR start.

• Tim has competed at Daytona on five previous occasions, all in the NBS.

• Tim finished 19th in the season-opening Busch Series race at Daytona last year.

• Tim’s best finish at Daytona was 10th in the Busch Series NAPA Auto Parts 300 on February 17, 2001.

Tim’s thoughts on Daytona International Speedway and the Chevy Silverado 250:
“We were really happy with the Lester Buildings Chevy at the test here last month. We’ll try to take care of our stuff early in the race, but I’ll tell ya, the last twenty laps are going to be a blast!”
