Green Light Racing’s Chad McCumbee finished second to Erik Darnell in the 2006 Craftsman Truck Series Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings running 17 races for the team. McCumbee’s new teammate, Busch Series veteran Tim Sauter, will vie for the award this season in the team’s #07 Lester Buildings Chevy Silverado.

Since 2000, Sauter has 116 previous starts in NASCAR’s top-three series, but with only three of those starts in the CTS, Sauter is eligible for the award this season. “I think we have as good a chance as any to win the award this year. It seems a little strange being called a rookie, but the way NASCAR’s rules are set-up I have to run the yellow stripes, so we might as well run for the award, Sauter said with a smile. “I thought it was a little strange with John Andretti in the Busch Series last year, but he had three times more Cup starts than I do Busch starts, so maybe it’s not such a reach! ”

GLR co-owners Gene Christensen and Bobby Dotter feel that Tim has a great chance to win the season-long award. “I think our teams are going to surprise some people this season, ” Dotter said. “Tim has a solid understanding of this business, he understands the work ethic needed, his experience and consistent driving style are keys to a successful season. ” Christensen added, “Tim knows how to take care of his equipment, our recent tests showed us he can get to the front. It would be great for everyone at Green Light Racing to see Tim win the award. ”

2007 will be the fourth consecutive year that Tim will represent Lester Buildings. Larry Lembrich, Lester Vice President is excited about additional exposure running for the rookie of the year can bring to his company this season, “For our company, being involved in NASCAR is major part of our marketing program. Every mention on-air or additional exposure we can get is part of our investment. ”

Sauter, a Necedah, Wisconsin native, is the son of former NASCAR Cup driver Jim Sauter and brother of NASCAR drivers Johnny and Jay. Tim’s only full season in NASCAR was in 2002 finishing 13th in the Busch Series standings with seven top-ten finishes.
