Michael Schumacher will test for Ferrari later this month in an effort to help the team improve its technical package. Schumacher retired at the end of last season and is doing the test for fun as well. Michael will assist the team with the car which will be without traction-control next year. Although Schumacher said in May he had no desire to step back into a F1 car, team boss Jean Todt made it clear the offer was always there.
“Todt said that if Michael had the desire to drive the car, he would be happy to fulfil it, ” said Schumacher’s spokeswoman.
“It’s half for pleasure, half for technical reasons. “
Schumacher will test on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The German has not taken part in a test since he retired, although he did drive the F2007 for a few laps in the wet at Ferrari’s Fiorano track at the end of last month. BBCSport
Team official Luca Colajanni said that the German, who retired at the end of 2006, will participate in testing on November 13 and 14.
“Michael said he would like to participate and we have always said that we are open for any suggestions, whenever he wants to, ” he said, adding that the testing was a once-off event without any plans for any future testing with Schumacher. BangkokPost
While Schumacher was a special adviser to Ferrari this season, he mostly stayed behind the scenes as his replacement, Kimi Raikkonen, won the title.
