Former Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso has been linked with the Honda team under new team leader Ross Brawn, German news reports said.
The Sport Bild weekly said on its website that Alonso has spent a day at the Honda team’s English headquarters in Brackley and was close to signing a deal with the Japanese team. The Age.com
Barrichello failed to score a single point this year as Honda slumped to an all-time low. This led to rumours that Honda had lost faith in the 35-year-old and were planning on giving him the boot.
These reports gained momentum when Fernando Alonso parted ways with McLaren, with claims that Barrichello could be on his way out in order to make room for the Spaniard. Sporting Life.com
