According to SSC, its proprietary All-Electric Scalable Powertrain (AESP) and Nanotechnology Rechargeable Lithium Battery can not only be adapted to fit any vehicle from a commuter car to a semi truck and can travel 150 to 200 miles on a single charge, but it can also recharge in 10 minutes from a standard wall socket.
SSC will debut the technology later this year in the Ultimate Aero EV, an all-electric version of its Ultimate Aero supercar. SSC hopes the car will break the world speed record for electric cars, much like the original Ultimate Aero did for production cars. Once manufacturing plans have been finalized, the company will sell the AESP wholesale to large automakers, governments and other businesses. The company says the units will cost $5000 to $6000 each when ordered in batches of 1000 to 10,000 units, and the price will do down for even larger orders.
