Force India are set to announce their drivers for next season in the first week of December, according to team owner Vijay Mallya.
2008 will be the Indian team’s first season in Formula 1, and Mallya will address the Motor Sport Business Forum in Monaco on December 5.
India is seen as a potentially huge market for the sport, with the Force team’s introduction next year being followed by the first Indian Grand Prix in 2010. 23 million Indian viewers watched races last year. Ruairi Corr, Setantasports.com
Tonio Liuzzi is hoping to become Force India’s test driver for the 2008 F1 season after testing with the team in Barcelona last week.
The Italian, who was dropped by Toro Rosso at the end of this year’s Championship, is currently without a drive for next season.
Liuzzi, though, is keen to stay in Formula One and if that means testing for Force India for a season, it’s a job he’ll happily take.
“I think I have good chances because I believe during the test I have shown what we can do,” he told F1GrandPrix.it when asked about his chances of becoming the team’s test driver. Fox Sports.com
