F1: Fernando Alonso to Sign a Two Year Deal With F1 Team Renault at The Start of Next Week McLaren

It seems that Alonso will sign a two year deal - possibly at the start of next week - with a clause that would enable him to leave after one season if things fail to work out.

This would make it possible for him to sign for Ferrari for the 2009 season. ThinkSpain.com

Formula 1 team Renault confirmed Friday that they are negotiating the return of Spain’s Fernando Alonso to the team where he won two Formula 1 World titles.

The 26-year-old Spaniard is currently jobless for next season after quitting McLaren 12 months into a three-year-contract following a major fall-out with team chief Ron Dennis.

Renault chiefs were believed to be unwilling to shell out on Alonso’s signature while there was still a risk that they could be thrown out of next year’s constructors’ championship for spying. Motoring.co
