After one round, the ING Renault F1 Team sits fourth in the constructors’ standings. With a good level of reliability already achieved, the performance deficit to the current leaders is the team’s number 1 focus for the coming weeks. As soon as the race was over, the engineers began poring over the data to analyse what had happened, and what solutions could be found. The first answers will come in Sepang, in three weeks’ time…

Giancarlo finished fifth in the opening Grand Prix of the season, after a demanding race in which he had to battle until the very last lap – resisting pressure from Massa until the chequered flag… The Roman brought home the ING Renault F1 Team’s first points of 2007. As for Heikki, he endured a baptism of fire on his Grand Prix debut. After qualifying in a lowly 13th position, the Finn made several mistakes during the race on his way to 10th place finish – well below the standard he had set for himself. The Renault Boys know that there’s plenty of work ahead in order to catch their rivals, tenth by tenth, and fight at the front. Next week’s test session in Malaysia will be a welcome chance to get back to work.
