An announcement by Toyota, who are based in Cologne, is expected next week and if Glock is confirmed, the deal will close another door to Spain’s double world champion Fernando Alonso.
Glock, 25, competed in four grands prix for the now-defunct Jordan team as a stand-in for Italian Giorgio Pantano in 2004 and scored two points with seventh place on his debut in Canada.
He has also raced in the US Cart championship. BBC
BMW Sauber and Toyota have been involved in a tug-of-love over Glock’s services, with Formula 1’s Contract Recognition Board having to arbitrate after BMW claimed that a deal he had signed with Toyota for next season conflicted with his existing contract as a test driver for the Hinwil-based team.
The CRB has now cleared Glock to race for Toyota and an announcement is expected at the Japanese manufacturer’s motorsports festival at Fuji next week. ITV
“Timo Glock will no longer be driving for the BMW F1 team next year, “ team boss Mario Theissen told Reuters.
“We have offered him the position of test driver in our team but he has been given the opportunity to race for another team.
“We wish Timo every success in his future F1 career. “ Fox Sports
