Honda Motor Company said on Wednesday it has developed the world’s first motorcycle powered by an eco-friendly fuel mixed with bio-ethanol and gasoline, which will be put on sale in Brazil from mid-March.
Blending gasoline with bio-ethanol, often made from wheat and sugarcane, is believed to be effective in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and in lowering fuel costs for drivers.
Honda decided it would be easier to launch the product in Brazil, which is one of the world’s largest producers of bio-ethanol, since approximately 90 per cent of new automobiles in the country are already running on bio-ethanol mixed fuel.
