IMSA GT3 Cup Competitors Will Share The Same Venue as F1 For The First Time In History

Buford, Ga.
Jun 14, 2007

Kinetic Motorsports and the IMSA GT3 Cup presented by Michelin will make history this weekend racing at the hallowed Brickyard for the first time. Not only will the Porsche based series compete at one of the world’s best know tracks, but they will also be in the presence of some impressive company considering this event is in conjunction with the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix.

Kinetic will field two cars this weekend with Kinetic owner/driver Russell Smith behind the wheel of his No. 38 Kinetic Motorsports Porsche 997. Last year’s second place points finisher Dino Steiner is also under the Kinetic banner and will drive the No. 15 Steiner TDI/Common Rail Porsche. Both competitors will strive for top results at the most anticipated IMSA Cup event on the 2007 Calendar.

“This is an incredible opportunity for us all, “ said Smith. “To have the chance to compete at such a historic venue and along side F1 is something that just doesn’t happen every day. I expect the energy to really be at an all time high with Dino and I as well as the crew. I know everyone is extremely excited about this and we are certainly hoping to secure great results. “

Competitors will take the Green Flag for the first time on Saturday at 2:35 p. m. for the first of two 30 minute races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Race 2 begins the following day at 10:45 a. m. just prior to the United States Grand Prix at 1:00 p. m.
