Lewis Hamilton Left Nurburgring With A Smile On His Face

Lewis Hamilton talks a lot about turning negative energy into a positive force, which explains why he left the Nurburgring with a smile on his face. In one chaotic weekend Hamilton racked up enough negative elements to keep his energy converter churning until Christmas, including flu, 175mph qualifying crash, puncture, rain, nil point.

In nine previous races, which constituted the sum of his Formula One experience, Hamilton had not once failed to finish on the podium. The most emphatic start to a grand prix career came crashing down around his ankles in round 10, the scale of his woes as impressive as his earlier successes.

“I wanted to race,” added Hamilton. Even when I got out of the car I asked the medical team, ’when can I use the spare car? How badly damaged is my car?’ I was wondering if I would be able to use it the next day, and what would happen.”

“So it was great to find out that I could race.”

And after visiting Lewis in the medical centre, Dennis told Louise Goodman: “He has no injuries, no broken bones.

They are just keeping him for a couple of hours’ observation, maybe here or maybe they will take him to hospital as a precaution.

At the moment he has no injuries.”

Regarding the cause of the accident, Dennis said: “It was nothing to do with Lewis, we had a gun failure. The right-front wheel wasn’t tight, we know that now as we discovered it afterwards.”
