Formula One: Michael Schumacher Wins The International Go-Kart Champs at Florianopolis Ferrari

Seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher proved he still has what it takes on the race track, after clinching victory at the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs on Sunday. The annual contest, which sees top international drivers compete against each other, was held at the Ingeles kart track in Florianopolis, Brazil.

Schumacher, who retired from Formula One racing at the end of the 2006 season, started the event’s first race in fourth before taking the lead on the second lap. He held onto first place until the chequered flag, leading Renault tester Nelson Piquet Jr across the line. Formula1.com

Michael Schumacher continued his impressive recent form by winning a once-off kart tournament in Brazil over the weekend.

The event was organised by Ferrari racer Felipe Massa, with Schumacher winning the first race, coming sixth in the second and taking the overall “Challenge of the Stars” title.

Afterwards, the 38-year-old admitted that he did miss his old life and was enjoying his brief jaunts back into the racing world. Setanta Sports.com

Michael Schumacher continued to demonstrate he has lost none of his legendary speed a year into retirement as he won the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs in Brazil on Sunday.

Schumacher won the first race from fourth on the grid after taking the lead on lap two, finishing over five seconds clear of Renault tester Nelson Piquet Jr and former Jaguar man Luciano Burti.

With the second race adopting a GP2-style reverse grid, the 38-year-old made his way up from eighth to second before sliding down to sixth place at the flag after his kart hit severe brake problems.ITV-F1.com
