Mike Conway: “I hope to be back in action again tomorrow”

Mike Conway, British GP2 driver with Super Nova Racing, emerged unscathed from a testing accident caused by a throttle sticking open at Paul Ricard this morning, and with major damage to his race car from a head on impact into the Armco, he was unable to take part in the afternoon session.
The GP2 all-team two day test session at the Paul Ricard circuit in France is one of the few opportunities for Conway to gain additional valuable track experience in preparation for the upcoming races in France, England, Germany and Hungary. With the Sevenoaks based driver looking forward to his home race at Silverstone in support of the British Grand Prix he was disappointed to have lost testing miles following the incident.
He said after the accident, “The Hans device certainly did its job today as I only had a small facial scratch and a bit of a headache, but no injuries after a fairly big impact. It’s written off the car, so we’re having a brand new tub sent out tonight and I hope to be back in action again tomorrow. “
Conway is expected to return to the track tomorrow and following the test he will return to the UK, attending F1 testing at Silverstone with sponsors and then heading to the Goodwood Festival of Speed with Lloyds TSB Private Banking, to drive a Lamborghini in the Supercar runs at the event.
