On the heels of another podium performance in round two of the Florida Winter Tour, Mike Vincec received news that he was selected by EkartingNews as the “2007 Rising Star” in the publication’s annual Awards Of Excellence. The awards were announced at the recent Kart Expo presented by Sodi Kart, an industry trade show and conference held in suburban Chicago, IL.

With this, the fifteen-year-old Cameron Motorsports driver begins the 2007 season with multiple awards including the 2006 Snap-On Stars Of Karting Rookie of the Year, the ASN Canada Canadian National Champion (ICC) and dual champion in the regional Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship (ICC & F1-K). He has also started the season with three podium finishes in the Florida Winter Tour.

It is hoped that the recent selection as Rising Star to his portfolio will gain some attention with potential sponsors that will strengthen Mike’s karting effort with Cameron Motorsports through the 2007 season and give him a head start for his foray into formula racing.

Mike will next be on track for the final round of FWT on March 17-18 at the Ocala Grand Prix where he and tuner Brian Bettencourt will look to put the Cameron Motorsports CRG/SwedeTech on the podium and take some valuable points to wrap up the series championship.

“We had some disappointment in Saturday’s race during the last round at Homestead” said Mike, “but a good run on Sunday has kept us in the hunt for the ICC Championship. Brian and I are pretty pumped and we are looking forward to a good run at Ocala. “
