If you work in David Coulthard’s hotel, you probably need to make sure everything is perfect when the boss comes around, as our man definitely has an eye for detail. Driving into the circuit on the first day of testing, the eagle-eyed Scotsman noticed that the array of national flags for those taking part, which lined the final part of the route to the circuit entrance, did not include the Cross of St. Andrew, the national flag of Scotland. The circuit management took his complaint very seriously and soon erected a huge flag outside the team hospitality area. “This is now officially my territory, ” declared a satisfied Scot. This was not the time to point out to him that today is St. David’s Day, the patron saint of Wales.

Meanwhile, back at the race track…. this final day of Bahrain testing ended with signs of progress as Mark Webber completed a race simulation and DC also did several long runs. “This has been a very useful six days here during which time we have been able to see how the car responds in the conditions we faced out here, while also fine tuning our race preparation work for Australia, ” said Christian Horner. “The test has not been trouble free and a few elements still need fixing, but we have made some progress. Next week, we will run at Magny-Cours for two days when, as planned, the RB3 will run with the new aerodynamic package that will be used in the first race in Melbourne. ”
