Rookie Lewis Hamilton continues to impress. After finishing third in this first Grand Prix, on March 18 in Australia, Hamilton took second place in the Malaysian Grand Prix on April 8 in his Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes after a thrilling battle with Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen.

Hamilton became only the second driver in the history of the FIA Formula One World Championship, which began in 1950, to earn podium finishes in his first two Grand Prix starts.

In 1964, fellow British driver Pete Arundell finished third in his first two Grands Prix starts, in Monaco and Holland, driving a Lotus. Arundell, who raced in only two seasons, never finished on the podium again.
