But many F1 observers believe many more podiums, and victories, lie in Hamilton s future.
For his part, Hamilton was not sure quite what to expect in the early races of his rookie season.
“It is difficult to go into a season and to predict what is going to happen or to know what to expect, ” he said. “For sure, testing is one thing, and racing is another. And I know I am very strong at racing, so that was not a question for me.
“But I really didn t know what to expect. I didn t think I would be twice on the podium already in the first two races and still in contention with these two guys (Malaysian Grand Prix winner Fernando Alonso and Australian Grand Prix winner Kimi Raikkonen. )”
