As his résumé grows, Sebastien Bourdais’ wish list gets shorter, and the announcement Friday that he’d race for the Toro Rosso F1 team next year was as important a milestone as any for the 28-year-old Frenchman.
Of course, Bourdais aspires to succeed, too, no simple task in Formula One. He also intends to pack a few more trophies for his move back home at the end of the season. DAVE KALLMANN, JournalSentinel.com

Sebastien Bourdais’ heart has been in Formula One for some time. Now the rest of him will be there, too.
The three-time defending Champ Car champion from Le Mans, France - a Tampa Bay area resident for the past five years - will drive for the Toro Rosso team next season, the team announced Friday.

After months of speculation Scuderia Toro Rosso announced today that three-time Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais will drive for the team in 2008.
After winning the 2002 Formula 3000 series, the Frenchman was unable to launch a career in F1, and went to America and dominated with the Newman Haas team.

Scuderia Toro Rosso has been working to try to conclude a deal that will allow it to announce on Wednesday that multiple Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais has reached agreement to join the team in 2008 and will therefore team up with Sebastian Vettel. The news will not be a surprise as there was never much hope that Tonio Liuzzi was going to stay with the troubled Italian team.

Sebastien Bourdais says he is still hopeful of landing a Formula One drive for 2008 despite the fact an option on his services with Toro Rosso expired on Tuesday.
The three time Champ Car champion says F1 is still his goal but admitted he might also take a look at the NASCAR series as well.
“As of right now, I’m trying to pursue everything I can in the F1 world, and we should have some news pretty soon,” he tells the Tampa Tribune. “If it doesn’t come through, then yeah, NASCAR is definitely something I would be interested in.”

“They announced Vettel today,” he continued.
“I think that was probably enough to occupy them quite a bit, so all it says right now for us is that it doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen.”

Toro Rosso’s 2008 ‘option’ on the services of Sebastien Bourdais ran out on Tuesday.
No news about the multiple Champ Car title winner’s possible future in formula one was forthcoming, but 28-year-old Bourdais admitted to the media that rumours of a link with a possible switch to NASCAR did have some substance.
“As of right now, I’m trying to pursue everything I can in the F1 world, and we should have some news pretty soon,” the Frenchman told the Tampa Tribune.

The partnership of Robert Yates Racing and Champ Car’s Newman-Haas-Lanigan Racing, announced Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, led to speculation that three-time Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais might be part of the deal.
But the Frenchman, who voiced some interest in stock cars after winning an International Race of Champions event in 2005, shot down that notion, at least for now.

In the next day or so Scuderia Toro Rosso has to take up or drop an option on Sebastien Bourdais, the triple Champ Car champion, who has tested for the team several times in recent months. In F1 circles it seems as though some feel that the deal is already done but it may not be quite that simple. Bourdais’s contractual situation in the United States may not be as clear as has been suggested.
