The Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula One Team is pleased to announce Sakon Yamamoto will partner Adrian Sutil for the remaining seven races of the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The 25-year-old from Toyohashi, Japan, made his Formula 1 debut at his home Grand Prix in Suzuka with Spyker’s predecessors, Jordan, in 2005. The following year Sakon joined the Super Aguri F1 Team as test and third driver before stepping up to race in the last seven rounds of the 2006 season.

As we exclusively predicted yesterday morning, the Spyker F1 team has announced that Sakon Yamamoto will partner Adrian Sutil for the remaining races of this year’s World Championship.

The 25-year-old Japanese driver made his F1 debut with the team - in its Jordan days - back in 2005 and then moved on to Super Aguri where he was test driver last year before taking over from as a race driver for the last seven races.

The Japanese driver will line up alongside Adrian Sutil for the remainder of the season with Spyker F1.

Yamamoto started seven races with the Super Aguri team last year with his best finish being 16th in both China and Brazil. This year, the 25 year old is currently competing in the GP2 series with BCN.

Sakon Yamamoto will leave the BCN GP2 team to race for the Spyker F1 team for the rest of the season.

This might both be a good and a bad thing for BCN. The good thing is that BCN now can look for a better driver who is able to fight for points - the bad thing is that the team currently haven’t got any points at all, and it will therefore be difficult to attract any good drivers.
