Former Ferrari Technical Director Ross Brawn Joins Honda F1 Team
Ferrari
Ferrari has announced that from January 1 2008 Stefano Domenicali will take on the role of Director of Ferrari’s Gestione Sportiva, a position currently held - on an interim basis - by Jean Todt.
The team says that its new structure will feature Mario Almondo as the director of operations, Aldo Costa as the technical director and Gilles Simon as director of the engine department. There will be further details about how the structure will work before the end of the year. GrandPrix.com
On January 1 Domenicali – currently the team’s sporting director – will be promoted to director of the Gestione Sportiva, the Italian marque’s motorsport division.
Technical director Mario Almondo will become head of operations, with chassis chief Aldo Costa taking over Almondo’s current role and Gilles Simon continuing as engine director.
It remains to be seen whether or not Todt will stay on at the helm of the Ferrari car company. ITV.com
Although Todt has been with the Italian marque since 1993, the team only truly began to flourish with the arrival of Michael Schumacher, Brawn and designer Rory Byrne from Benetton in 1996.
Brawn took over as technical director while Byrne became chief designer. A first constructors’ title in 16 years followed in 1999 as Ferrari entered a period of total domination of F1. EarthTimes
