The recent media launch of Superleague Formula has kicked off a whirlwind period for series organisers with the championship’s Barcelona head office flooded with calls from football clubs, race teams, drivers and suppliers.
Merging the passion of international football with the excitement of world-class motorsport, Superleague Formula will feature the colours of major international football clubs aboard 750 horsepower V12-powered single seater race cars.
Set to debut in August 2008, the championship was unveiled to the international media at the San Siro stadium in Milan on April 3. Major international clubs AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, Olympiacos and FC Porto are already confirmed as series entrants.
Since the April 3 launch, the reaction to the new championship has been extremely positive - judging by the initial response from prospective clubs, race teams, drivers, circuits, suppliers, entertainment vendors plus football and race fans.
“The media response to the launch of the championship was outstanding. The fact that we have already commissioned a purpose built chassis and engine package for the championship and secured the support of some of Europe’s top football clubs obviously has vindicated the fact that this championship is a serious entity, “ Superleague Formula CEO, Alex Andreu said.
“Operations Director Robin Webb and myself have been frantically busy in meetings not only throughout Europe but across the globe since the launch.
