Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and Enkei, the world leader in street and race wheels, are delighted to announce the long-term extension of their Partnership, which began in 1995.
As Official Supplier to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, Enkei provides the Formula 1 team with lightweight magnesium wheels for World Championship Grands Prix and test sessions. The Enkei logo will feature on the wheels used for the team’s 2007 Challenger, the MP4-22.
Enkei Group Chairman, Junichi Suzuki commented that “Being involved in the Formula 1 World Championship with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes is an important part of the Enkei culture. Enkei is always looking to implement innovative wheel technology in today’s manufacturing environment. We are confident that we are providing our business partners with cutting edge wheel technology. Our relationship with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has allowed us to continue to pursue lighter and stronger wheels to ensure that our customers driving experience is the best, whether on a Grand Prix track or on a local street. â€
“We are pleased to be making the announcement today that we are extending our Official Supplier relationship with Enkei. Since our Partnership began over 12 years ago, we have worked closely together to gain performance and develop wheel rim technologies. We are looking forward to continuing this process into the long-term, †added Martin Whitmarsh, CEO Formula 1, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. “As we move into a new era for the team in 2007, with our new Title Partner and our exciting driver pairing of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, it is important to acknowledge the continued and vital role being played by our group of Partners. Extending our agreement with Enkei is a demonstration of this and we are proud that the Partnership will support Enkei in strengthening its leading global market position. â€
