F1: Williams F1 Driver Nico Rosberg Hit With Ten Place Grid Penalty nicorosberg

Nico Rosberg will drop ten places on the grid for Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix because of an engine change on his Williams.

With current regulations requiring engines to last two events, Rosberg had been due to run the same Toyota V8 that powered him to sixth place in Belgium two weeks ago. Formula1.com

Toyota engineers diagnosed a problem with the V8 power plant after it was returned to the factory in Cologne following the Belgian GP.

Rosberg will therefore be given a fresh engine before Saturday’s action, which means he will incur an automatic grid relegation. It is a major blow for the German, who has scored points in each of the past four races and recently passed team-mate Alex Wurz for ninth in the drivers’ standings. ITV.com

This will be a major problem for the team as Rosberg’s handicap is going to make it hard for him to score points and team-mate Alexander Wurz has not been able to match Rosberg’s performance this year. GrandPrix.com
