Xavier MAASSEN has been confirmed as a Prema Powerteam driver to compete in the World Series by Renault for the 2007 season. Massen was born in Heerlen in Holland on the 22 June, 1980. The Dutch driver is a rookie to the class but has a good pedigree, after establishing himself in the Junior Formulae, where he was double Belgian Formula Ford champion from 2001-2002, he added to those acheivements by becoming Belgian Renault Clio cup champion in 2002. Massen made the move up to the Dutch Formula Renault Championship where he showed his potential with some good results. Massen subsequently went on to compete in the Formula Renault Eurocup where he was always considered one of the top young drivers. Last year he finished an impressive third place in the North European Formula Renault championship.

Angelo Rosin Team Principal : “Xavier Maassen will be a debutant in the World Series by Renau lt, but we cannot see this being a problem. He’s a mature, experienced driver and I believe that he will become a valuable member of our team and help us achieve the results that we all hope for. “

Xavier Maassen : “Signing for Prema Power in the World Series is like a dream come true. We worked hard to achieve our goal to drive for a top team in the World Series. This goal has now become reality. Prema is one of those teams that I have always wanted to work with from the time that I started in motorsport. I am looking forward on working with the guys and the team. I am very motivated to do a good job with the team and achieve some good results in my rookie year. It will be a big leap stepping up from Formula Renault 2.0 to the World Series; with Prema I am confident we can make this step with success.”
