Christian Montanari is having a busy week: last Monday, the driver from San Marino joined the FIA GT collective testing at Spa, in sight of the forthcoming 24-hour race. Then, after completing his weekly physical training schedule, he’ll head towards Oschersleben, to enter the fifth round of the season. At Spa, all the four drivers successfully took the wheel of the team’s Maserati, including new Endurance team-mates Bobbi and Lemeret. Although Christian’s run was conditioned by the bad weather, the laps turned were among the fastest on wet.
Christian is also ready to enter the fifth round of the 2007 season, at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The venue, formerly part of the DDR, hosts a short and technical track with many slow and medium turns, ideal for the strong chassis of the Maserati MC12. The car driven by Montanari, due to the second place finish scored at Monza, will carry a 50-kg supplementary ballast.
The driver, who raced at Oschersleben in the 2005 World Series Renault, appears unconcerned: “we’re heading towards Germany to score as many points as possible to improve our 2nd place in standings; this week’s race will be the fifth of a season that’s reaching its halfpoint.
I have to say that I’m having an incredibly exciting experience in this top-level Series. I’m lucky to work together with a hugely professional team, that’s also helping me to grow as a professional. A big thanks must go, of course, to Michelin and Maserati. Each time, I find a new technical and personal challenge, and that’s the best thing for a driver. I’m quite satisfied with our last tests at Spa-Francorchamps: the rain stopped our plans a bit, but I discovered to be very fast on wet… “.
