A mysterious engine problem has made the going tough for IRWIN Racing’s Alan Gurr during the second round of the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series at Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway.
Gurr was 28th overall for the weekend, with the highlight being 21st in the second of three races.
In race #2 the engine gremlins appeared a thing of the past, with Gurr fighting for positions with some of the big names in V8 Supercars. However, the same couldn’t be said for the final race with the problem once again affecting the Falcon.
After being mid-pack during Friday’s practice, Gurr was confident of qualifying in the top half of the field before the engine dramas started to hit.
“We were very happy with the car after practice, especially the way the chassis had responded to the set-up for the track, ” said Gurr.
